We are seeking a skilled and experienced cook to join our team at Bombay Bloomers, a restaurant in Randwick, NSW. As a cook, you will be responsible for preparing and cooking food for customers in a timely manner, while ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
Main Responsibilities:
- Set up the kitchen with clean cooking utensils and equipment
- Examine foodstuffs to ensure quality
- Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients
- Plan and prepare menus, including seasonal menu development
- Cook food for customers in a timely manner and cater to in-house occasions and events
- Adjust temperature of ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment
- Season food during cooking process
- Cater to customers with special dietary requirements, including those with allergies
- Examine and ensure quality of dishes throughout preparation, cooking, and presenting
- Ensure appealing plate presentation, portion food, and add gravies, sauces, and garnishes
- Confer with superiors on food preparation issues
- Ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and safety rules and regulations within the kitchen area
- Store food in temperature-controlled facilities, freezing and preserving food
Requirements:
- Certificate III in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) or equivalent
- Current Food Handling Certificate
- At least three years of relevant experience as a cook
- Ability to implement day-to-day policies and procedures as directed
- Ability to work under pressure and give attention to details
- Ability to show initiative and judgment in the workplace
Salary: $75,000 plus Super
