This position involves assessing, inspecting, and certifying live animals for trade. You will lead a team of professionals in this endeavour, collaborating with colleagues to achieve seamless operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of experts in assessing, inspecting, and certifying live animals.
  • Collaborate with staff across Australia to ensure efficient trade operations.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the organisation.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant legislation and policy to ensure compliance.
Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have a degree in veterinary science from a recognised Australian university or equivalent qualification. Registration with the relevant state/territory veterinary board is also required.

About the Team

The Veterinary Branch is responsible for providing inspection and certification services for the export of meat, meat products, and the import and export of live animals. Our teams comprise experienced professionals working together to ensure high standards are met.

Requirements
  • A deep understanding of Australia's animal health system.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, standards, and best practice models.
  • Knowledge of animal pests and diseases affecting Australia's animal health status.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing teams.
  • Relevant veterinary experience with livestock, horses, cats, and dogs.
