Job Title: Chief of Medical Services

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief of Medical Services to join our team at the New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for providing operational oversight and clinical guidance to support the delivery of high-quality medical services to individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert clinical consultation to state-operated programs to enhance and develop innovative clinical services.
  • Assist in conducting case conferences and educational sessions to medical/clinical staff to present information on complex cases and treatment strategies.
  • Assist with the discharge planning of individuals from various settings, including medical/mental health hospitals and correctional facilities.
  • Provide guidance in response to investigations and recommendations from the Mortality Review Committee, NYS Justice Center, and the Office of Investigations and Internal Affairs.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations governing Intermediate Care Facilities.
  • Provide technical assistance in responding to NYS Department of Health surveys and citations.
  • Support the use of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) by having an active role in the utilization, review, and analysis of EHR data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain technical guidance and training to ensure consistency of operations across the region.
  • Oversee the management of activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services, including cost management, utilization review, quality assurance, and medical protocol development.
  • Coordinate meetings with medical staff to discuss statewide policy and practices and provide training as needed or requested.
  • Serve as Medical On Call, providing region-wide coverage on a rotational basis.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State.
  • Six years of post-licensure medical practice experience, with two years in an administrative or supervisory capacity.
