Position Overview: This role is integral to the Irrigation Team within a Local Council, focusing on the upkeep and functionality of irrigation systems. The successful candidate will engage in a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and operation of these systems, working on a 9-day fortnight schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain pressurized irrigation systems effectively.
  • Ensure that irrigation for garden beds and turf in public reserves and streetscapes is functioning as intended.
  • Conduct systematic maintenance of irrigation systems.
  • Keep irrigation programs updated and aligned with seasonal requirements and specific locations.
  • Repair exposed garden bed irrigation and ensure it is appropriately buried.
  • Ensure that sprinklers are leveled and positioned correctly.
  • Maintain valve boxes to be level and just below ground level.
  • Address any irrigation leaks promptly.
  • Adjust sprinkler arcs as necessary.
  • Diagnose and resolve ground issues related to irrigation.
  • Perform repairs on valves and sprinklers.
  • Regularly clean filters in accordance with site specifications.
  • Measure and assess the performance of the irrigation delivery system.
  • Accountable for achieving work outcomes that meet Council operational standards.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Manager or Coordinator.

Candidate Requirements: Ideal candidates will possess relevant experience, successfully pass an OH&S assessment and skills evaluation. Medical screening may also be part of the selection process. A minimum of two contactable work-related referees is required for consideration.
