Occupational Health and Safety Specialist

We are currently seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to join our team based in Karratha. As a key member of our project team, you will play a vital role in ensuring a healthy and safe working environment for all personnel, in accordance with our Management System expectations, operating standards, and HSSE management manual, statutory requirements, and client specifications.
Job DescriptionAs an HSE Advisor, your primary focus will include:
- Delivering a project free from incidents, injuries, and environmental harm by complying with our HSE Management System and being fully engaged with all activities.
- Providing support and active mentoring to the project team in all matters of Health, Safety, and Environment on Project Ceres.
- Supporting the HSE Manager in the development, implementation, monitoring, and revision of the HSE Management Systems as required.
- Ensuring project team compliance with all HSE related contractual and legal obligations.
- Recording and investigating accidents, injuries, and incidents appropriately.
- Developing and delivering HSE training programs to all personnel.
- Managing and delivering HSE audits for the project.
- Assisting with pre-qualification and tender packages as required.
- Preparing emergency response plans and procedures as required.
- Identifying potential issues and providing solutions to any HSE related matters.
- Preparation and analysis of project performance reporting criteria.
- Leading and participating in risk management activities to support the project in pursuit of an incident-free outcome.
Your Skills and Qualifications
- Territory Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety
- 5+ years of HSE experience in the construction or mining industry
- Knowledge of HSE legislation and industry best practices and their application to the project.
- Experience as a HSE advisor on major projects
- Strong influencing skills and the ability to develop relationships
- Ability to plan, organise, and prioritise work, balancing resources, priorities, and timescales to achieve objectives.
- Proficiency with MS Office suite of software and prior experience utilising HSSE reporting systems
Your Remuneration Package
We offer a competitive remuneration package with a salary estimated at AU$100,000 - AU$120,000 per annum, commensurate with experience, plus industry leading benefits such as ongoing training for career progression, mental health and wellbeing programs, salary continuance insurance, and more.
