**Job Title:** Technical Lead - Data Security Specialist

**Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced technical lead to head our data security efforts. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing secure data life cycle practices and services that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive research data.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data security risks and demonstrated experience in secure data life cycle management practices and tooling. They will also possess hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing secure data storage, analysis, and life cycle management practices and their adoption into IT and research groups across UNSW.

Key responsibilities include providing expert guidance and leadership on secure data storage, analysis, and life cycle management practices, collaborating with relevant areas to establish and advance sustainable secure data processes, platforms, and tools, and contributing to the development of standards, guidelines, and proactively identifying data life cycle management improvement opportunities.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for developing and delivering training on secure data life cycle management, mentoring and supporting colleagues and stakeholders to develop technical skills and mindset, and promoting awareness of emerging threats to research data security.

**Required Skills and Qualifications:

- In-depth understanding of data security risks and demonstrated experience in secure data life cycle management practices and tooling

- Hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing secure data storage, analysis, and life cycle management practices and their adoption into IT and research groups across UNSW

- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex requirements into solution delivery

- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, including the ability to structure and articulate messages in written and verbal form, develop effective relationships, and influence stakeholders at all levels

- Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels within an organisation
