Make a difference at Serco
As a Horticultural Support Specialist, you will assist in the upkeep and enhancement of parks, gardens, and other green assets, ensuring they meet established standards. Reporting to the Horticultural Assets Supervisor and Head Gardener, you will engage in hands-on work in a lively outdoor environment on a full-time basis.
In this role, you will positively influence your surroundings by:
- Executing pruning and planting tasks as instructed by the Head Gardener or Horticulture Supervisor
- Mowing various types of lawns
- Ensuring all plants within your designated area are healthy and well-presented
- Clearing away dead plant materials, including small branches and leaf debris
- Watering plants and lawn areas as directed
- Operating essential gardening equipment when necessary
- Maintaining tools and equipment in a clean and safe condition
- Conducting repairs and servicing of equipment as required

You are a motivated and passionate individual who enjoys outdoor work and contributing to the beautification of public spaces. You possess physical fitness, are capable of performing hands-on tasks, and have a keen attention to detail. Your strong communication skills and ability to collaborate within a team make you an ideal candidate for this position.
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Experience in general gardening and familiarity with horticultural machinery (minimum six months)
- Experience in graffiti removal
- Strong oral and written communication abilities
- Capability to interact with a diverse range of individuals
- A valid Driver's License
- A completed qualification in Horticulture and/or Conservation and Ecosystem Management (Desirable)
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining biodiverse native vegetation landscapes (Desirable)
