We are seeking a highly skilled Sustainability Land Management Specialist to join our team. This key role offers a mix of technical work and community engagement in sustainable land management across Queensland.

The Department manages 60% of Queensland's land, providing various services including land valuations, native title claims, indigenous land services, vegetation management and more.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Assessing applications under the Vegetation Management Act 1999 and related frameworks
  • Conducting desktop and field-based vegetation assessments
  • Providing expert advice to stakeholders
  • Preparing clear reports, briefs, and recommendations for senior officers
  • Contributing to compliance inspections and enforcement planning

To succeed in this role you will have:

  • Ability to apply and interpret legislation, regulations, and policies
  • Strong analytical and summarizing skills
  • Experience working effectively in a team
  • Skills in utilizing mapping programs, spatial information systems, and navigating databases
