Job Title:

Safety and Security Professional

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to fill the role of Safety and Security Professional. In this position, you will play a vital role in safeguarding people, assets, information, and operations at our facility in Newcastle.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the initial point of contact for site security matters, providing expert guidance and support.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive security policies, procedures, and plans in line with Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF) guidelines.
  • Manage personal security clearances, associated actions, and sponsored staff requirements, ensuring seamless integration with existing processes.
  • Contribute to security education, induction, and awareness programs for staff, contractors, and suppliers, promoting a culture of safety and security excellence.
  • Investigate suspected or confirmed breaches, collaborating with relevant agencies as required, and provide timely recommendations for mitigation and prevention.
  • Ensure compliance with physical security standards, aligning with Defence and company requirements, and provide expert advice to management, staff, and suppliers on security obligations for both personal and program activities.
  • Collaborate with IT and Cyber Security teams, liaise with Defence, Commonwealth, and other security organisations as required, and contribute to security accreditation processes and associated reporting.
  • Undertake security assurance activities as directed by the CSO, maintaining a high level of professionalism and integrity.
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as a Security Officer in Defence or Government, demonstrating a strong understanding of security principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of DSPF or PSPF and ISM, with a proven ability to apply theoretical concepts in practical settings.
  • Understanding of HB167:2006 - Security Risk Management Experience with Communications Security, showcasing a deep appreciation for security risk management and communications security.
  • Desirable: Completion of DISP Security Officer training, indicating a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance, adhering to all applicable laws and regulations.
