Numerous schools across NSW rely on NSW Teaching Service to provide high-quality education, serving two-thirds of the state's student population.

Classification Structure for Principals

The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 outlines a new principal classification structure based on school complexity, which commenced in 2016.

To determine the classification and remuneration of our principals, we consider the RAM allocation for each school. Our current classification structure review process takes place annually.

Estimated Salary: $145,291 - $164,385 per annum

This position is classified as Principal Level P2, commencing in 2024 and extending through 2025. As part of your application, please include your WWCC clearance number.

About the Role

  • Highly visible and approachable leader with exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing School Improvement Plans (SIPs).
  • Able to cultivate an inclusive school culture supporting the well-being of students and staff.
  • Facilitate high-level professional learning to enhance staff capacity and foster genuine relationships.
  • Collaborate effectively with the broader school community, including local AECGs and P&Cs.

General Selection Criteria

  • Ability to lead and manage complex public schools focused on delivering high-quality education.
  • Lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole-school teaching and learning programs.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for building positive relationships and engaging the entire educational community.
  • Capacity to develop and perform staff to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Plan systems and manage resources to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Lead staff in implementing Departmental Aboriginal education policy.

  • An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
