Lead Health, Safety and Environment Professional


About the Position

We are seeking a technically skilled Lead HSE Advisor to drive health, safety and environmental excellence across our operations.


This role involves working closely with program managers to support ADF ground support equipment and counter-CBRNE contracts.


The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing and implementing HSE protocols tailored to specialized operational contexts, ensuring alignment with Defence and Commonwealth standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HSE protocols for complex and high-risk environments
  • Work closely with program managers to support ADF ground support equipment and counter-CBRNE contracts
  • Advise on HSE considerations throughout the asset lifecycle
  • Lead toolbox talks, mentor operational teams, and partner with stakeholders to embed a proactive, learning-focused safety culture

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Australian citizenship and a Defence security clearance (or the ability to obtain one)
  • AQF Level 4 qualification or equivalent in occupational health, safety and environmental risk management or a transferable engineering-related qualification
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within Defence or other high-risk industries
  • Strong understanding of relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards
  • Proficient in root cause analysis and incident investigation methodologies
  • Competent in using HSEQ management systems
