Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all facets of underground geological operations, including the training and development of team members.
- Manage grade control diamond drilling, geological mapping, and reconciliation processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely contributions to mining, mine design, and production planning.
- Lead geological grade control and production activities to optimize operational efficiency.
- Conduct mine-to-mill reconciliations and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Direct drilling initiatives, including target generation and data management.
- Develop and refine 3D geological models and resource estimations to enhance deposit understanding.
- Uphold high standards of quality and compliance within all geological functions.
- Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental awareness, adhering to established policies and procedures.
- Perform routine production core logging and address any discrepancies identified.
- Engage in underground geological mapping, sampling, and data management activities.
- Execute stope definition targeting and geological interpretation.
- Collaborate with the Resource Geologist on underground geological modeling and resource estimates.
- Prepare resource estimates and reserve depletions in partnership with engineering teams.
- Monitor geological systems and processes, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Assist in implementing change management initiatives and business improvement projects.
Qualifications
- Degree in Geology or a related discipline.
- Professional membership in AusIMM, AIG, or a similar organization.
- Proficient in geological mapping, logging, and interpretation.
- Strong understanding of geostatistics and ore reserve estimation techniques.
- Knowledgeable in sampling practices and their theoretical foundations.
- Experience with grade control practices in underground mining environments.
- Ability to manage all technical aspects of drilling programs effectively.
- Basic knowledge of geotechnical and metallurgical processes.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to team safety.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation affecting mining operations.
- Experience in cost management and budgeting processes.
- Proven track record of implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to create 3D geological interpretations/models using Datamine software.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in 3D Datamine/Minesight for evaluating underground targets.
