About the Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Geologist to join our team at Optimum Consulting. As a key member of our geological team, you will be responsible for conducting geological work programs, including lithological logging, soil and rock sampling, and geological mapping.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with site management and mine geologists to enhance site operations and minimize geological risks.
  • Utilize and update geological databases and software for model analysis and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct fieldwork across Queensland, including geological and geophysical interpretations, and develop comprehensive resource models.
  • Oversee GIS mapping to support geological processes and manage tenements effectively.
  • Lead geological field programs and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely resource and reserve estimations.
  • Mentor the career development of geologists across our operational sites and promote a safety mindset throughout the organization.

About You:

  • A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology or other relevant qualifications.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in coal or gold geology with a demonstrated ability to design and execute geological work programs.
  • Knowledge of structural geology and coal quality.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in regional and remote locations.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Software skills using data collection software and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with at least one of the following geological databases: Geobank, acQuire, LogCheck, or TaskManager.
  • Open driver's license.
  • Ability to work autonomously in a small team and show initiative.
