Senior Project Engineer Job OverviewJob Description

We are seeking a skilled engineer to lead and manage day-to-day engineering activities across defence-related projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing drawing production, supervising project engineers and ensuring delivery within allocated hours.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering or mechatronics, with minimum 7 years of experience ideally in defence or related industries. Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering investigations and produce high-quality reports.
  • Review and approve CAD drawings using industry-standard software.
  • Supervise and mentor project engineers, overseeing drawing production and technical documentation.
  • Perform engineering calculations and analysis for critical fluid systems.
  • Manage project tasks, delegate responsibilities and ensure delivery within allocated hours.
  • Support project managers and engineers in delivering defence-related projects.
  • Engage with customers and suppliers to ensure project alignment and technical compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering or mechatronics.
  • Minimum 7 years of engineering experience, ideally in defence or related industries.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent attention to detail and technical accuracy.
  • Familiarity with producing engineering drawings to AS 1100 standard.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Eligibility for Australian Defence Security Clearance.
