Student Support Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Student Support Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will work closely with students, families, and school staff to provide a strengths-based approach to support mental health, student wellbeing, and engagement at school.

You will be responsible for providing evidence-based assessments and interventions to promote positive mental health, wellbeing, and engagement outcomes for students. This includes individual, group, and community responses to meet the needs of students.

As a key member of our team, you will build opportunities for student voice and participation, relating to culture and inclusion within the school setting. You will also work with families to support student mental health, wellbeing, and engagement at school.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake evidence-based assessments and interventions relating to student mental health, wellbeing, and engagement at school.
  • Provide individual, group, and community responses to promote positive mental health, wellbeing, and engagement outcomes for students.
  • Build opportunities for student voice and participation, relating to culture and inclusion within the school setting.
  • Work with families to support student mental health, wellbeing, and engagement at school.
  • Refer, support engagement, and coordinate services to students and their families when accessing external agencies for support.
  • Build strong partnerships with families and the school community to promote positive relationships.
  • Participate as a multi-disciplinary team member within the school setting and in inter-agency networks relevant to the social work role.
  • Build internal and external partnerships to integrate service responses.
  • Contribute to educational events that encourage awareness and participation by students, parents/carers, and the community.
  • Promote positive physical, psychological, emotional, and social health outcomes for students.
  • Maintain appropriate data collection and monitor, evaluate, and review wellbeing programs within schools.
  • Follow the Department's documentation and record keeping management procedures and engage in supervision and professional development.
