About the Role

The Central Jersey Medical Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center located in Perth Amboy and Newark, NJ. We are currently looking to hire a full-time medical office support staff member. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Location of the Position: Perth Amboy, NJ

Key Responsibilities
  • Patient Scheduling: Book, coordinate, and reschedule patient appointments efficiently.
  • Patient Greeting: Welcome patients promptly and provide excellent customer service.
  • Schedule Management: Maintain and update current information on providers' schedules.
  • Phone Management: Answer telephone calls, screen calls, and provide necessary information to callers.
  • Appointment Confirmation: Contact patients to confirm appointments.
  • Chart Preparation: Assemble patients' charts and create new patient charts as needed.
  • Demographic and Insurance Information: Conduct personal interviews to obtain required demographic and insurance information and enter it into the computer system.
  • Consents and Forms: Obtain required signatures on legal consents and insurance forms.
  • Insurance Verification: Contact insurers to verify coverage and ensure we are the primary care provider when necessary.
  • Claims Management: Make adjustments to the computer classification of claims to accurately reflect expected pay sources.
  • Customer Inquiries: Respond to patient inquiries and refer complex issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Financial Transactions: Perform exit billing and discuss patient account balances with responsible parties.
  • Cash Handling: Collect and process daily cash transactions.
  • Log Maintenance: Maintain daily logs of uncompensated care applications and other government-related submissions.
  • Data Entry: Input data into ancillary databases.
  • Encounter Collection: Collect and batch daily encounters.
Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Autonomy: Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Task Completion: Demonstrate effective follow-through with all tasks.

  • Teamwork: Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Languages: Spanish language proficiency preferred.

Training and Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in a medical office support setting or equivalent combination of experience and training that provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
