Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a mechanical engineer to lead our water systems team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering and leadership skills to manage and direct the team's efforts.



Key Responsibilities

Leadership

The successful candidate will be responsible for:


  • Providing technical guidance and direction to junior engineers
  • Developing and implementing engineering standards and policies
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Identifying and mitigating risks associated with projects
  • Developing and managing budgets for projects
  • Providing regular updates to management on project status and progress


Technical Expertise

The successful candidate will be responsible for:


  • Developing and applying advanced engineering techniques and concepts to solve complex problems
  • Designing and developing water systems and related infrastructure
  • Coordinating with other departments to ensure projects meet technical and quality standards
  • Providing technical guidance and support to junior engineers and other staff members
  • Developing and implementing engineering standards and policies


Communication and Collaboration

The successful candidate will be responsible for:


  • Communicating effectively with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and colleagues
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with project stakeholders
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Providing regular updates to management on project status and progress


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Victoria or Queensland
  • Minimum 11 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on water systems
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong technical skills, including proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software and water modeling tools
  • Experience with project management software and tools
  • Ability to travel to project sites as needed


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Minimum 11 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on water systems
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Victoria or Queensland


Work Environment/Physical Demands

The successful candidate will be required to work in a typical office environment, with occasional travel to project sites.
