About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Practice Lead to join our team at the Department of Justice and Community Safety. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of Behaviour Support Specialists and overseeing the delivery of evidence-based psychosocial programs to support the rehabilitation of young people in custody.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of Behaviour Support Specialists to deliver interventions and services to complex client groups.
  • Develop and implement strategies, interventions, and plans that are responsive to the individual needs of young people.
  • Provide authoritative advice to the Clinical Manager and relevant stakeholders on emerging issues and trends.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve sustained change in a young person's behaviour through individual interactions and structured programs.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver interventions and services to complex client groups.
  • A specialist expertise working with young people presenting with multiple and complex needs, including offending behaviour, trauma, substance use, mental health issues, and more.
  • A relevant qualification in psychology, social work, youth work, or a related discipline with applied/practical content.
  • A clinical understanding of forensic populations working directly with youth.
