Job Role Overview

The Certification team focuses on developing tools to verify hardware compatibility with Ubuntu Core, Desktop, and Server. This involves designing hardware for probing devices independently and creating frameworks for software tests that assess every aspect of Ubuntu on that hardware.

This position entails creating and maintaining Canonical's open-source certification tools, supporting the creation of hardware solutions for test automation, and automating existing processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain new features in our Python-based test automation tools like Checkbox.
  • Innovate ways to enable remote, automated testing.
  • Collaborate in building the software counterpart to in-house designed testing hardware to facilitate device enablement.
  • Compose functional and performance tests to support hardware enablement and prevent regressions.
Requirements:
  • Proficiency in the Python programming language.
  • Quality-oriented approach to software design and implementation.
  • Interest in test automation methodologies.
  • Previous experience working with Ubuntu or other Linux distributions.
