About the Role

The APS is seeking a highly skilled Information and Communications Manager to join our team in Canberra. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for managing information and records management activities in accordance with the Archives Act 1983, relevant legislation, and Defence policies and procedures.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team and allocate resources, setting work area priorities, managing workflows, developing strategies, and evaluating business outcomes.
  • Liaise with stakeholders in relation to sometimes complex or difficult issues involving a considerable level of engagement.
  • Manage the participation of Space Command in a series of sometimes high-profile, high-visibility events and activities.
  • Support the JCG MECC team to provide specialist advice on the design, development, and implementation of a range of internal and external communication and media products and activities.

Key Requirements:

  • Strong skills and experience in managing complex information and records management work within an integrated workforce.
  • Ability to manage and organize events in a range of environments and sizing.
  • Well-developed understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and Defence's mission and policy requirements.
  • Leadership skills, including organizing workflow and making independent decisions relating to area of responsibility.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislative, policy, and regulatory requirements.
  • Specialist research and analysis skills, including conducting reviews, assessments, and investigations, and performing clerical and administrative support work to achieve results.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to provide advice and services for a range of complex activities.
  • Design, development, and implementation skills for a range of internal and external communication products and activities.
