Employee Relations Specialist

Job Summary
:We are seeking a skilled Employee Relations Specialist to join our team at Bechtel Corporation. In this role, you will be responsible for handling project labour relations activities, leading complex employee relations investigations, and resolving employee disputes, including work stoppages.
You will interpret contracts, enforce work rules, and participate in negotiations. Your work will facilitate positive labour relations on the construction project, minimizing problems that may lead to work stoppages and schedule delays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret and administer the Project Enterprise Agreement and enforce work rules. Stay up-to-date with employment laws and related legislation.
- Work with the jobsite Safety representative to implement Environmental, Safety and Health programs for craft personnel.
- Collaborate with subcontractor representatives to ensure employment contracts are interpreted correctly and work rules are enforced uniformly.
- Analyze labour problems and implement corrective actions to prevent work stoppages and construction schedule delays.
- Conduct and/or provide guidance in conducting informal and formal grievance hearings in accordance with applicable procedures.
- Interface with the craft workforce, construction leadership, client, and general public.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.
Desirable Skills:
- Good analytical and strategic planning skills: able to prioritize, pivot and respond to conflicting priorities.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office software.
- Previous experience in employment relationships, employee or industrial relations, construction trades, leadership skills.
- HSE legislative knowledge will also be highly regarded.
- Experience and demonstrated success in human resources, industrial or employee relations, Workforce Services type roles on a construction site.
- Training experience within an industrial environment is preferred.
Additional Information:
This position involves working in a dynamic environment with changing conditions, including extensive walking, climbing, and working at heights. You must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task. The Pluto Train 2 Project is a non-smoking site, and no tobacco products are permitted.
This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals, the working roster is 3/1.
