Senior Lecturer Veterinary Emergency Critical Care Specialist

Murdoch University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Veterinary Emergency Critical Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our School of Veterinary Medicine, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional clinical care to animals, teaching and mentoring veterinary students, and contributing to research and innovation in the field.
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Practice
- Provide specialist-level clinical service in the diagnosis and management of small animal emergency and critical care cases
- Oversee emergency and critical care residents for the purposes of residency training
- Lead the clinical team while on clinical duty
- Contribute to the after-hours on-call roster
- Clinical or Professional Practice – Research
- Design and implement research projects, including data collection protocols, analysis, and interpretation
- Develop clinical research relevant to veterinary emergency & critical care, including publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Contribute to School strategic priorities in research and partner with other researchers
- Clinical or Professional Practice – Teaching
- Develop and deliver clinical training in Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care, including lectures, tutorials, practical classes, and clinical sessions
- Develop assessments and undertake marking for veterinary students
- Coordinate and/or co-coordinate undergraduate and postgraduate units
- University Service and Leadership
- Actively promote and foster the School's relations with the veterinary profession and the wider community
- Practice good business management, including supervision of staff and management of client relations
- Participate in School decision-making and serve on School and/or College committees
- A degree in veterinary science registrable with the Veterinary Surgeons' Board of Western Australia
- A professional qualification that would allow registration as a specialist in emergency and critical care in Western Australia
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge, experience, and capability in the area of Veterinary Emergency & Critical Care
- Demonstrated experience in teaching veterinary students and in coaching and mentoring veterinary nurses
- Demonstrated initiative in undertaking responsibilities, ability to work under broad direction only, and play a leadership role in teaching and learning activities
- Evidence of clinical research experience, publications, and presentations
- Ability to establish effective relationships and to represent the School of Veterinary Medicine to the university and wider community
