About the Position

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for environmental conservation specialists to join the Greater Sydney team and contribute towards the preservation of natural environments, flora, fauna, and Aboriginal heritage within the NPWS Greater Sydney Branch.

Key Responsibilities

You will provide effective management of natural, historic, and Aboriginal heritage by undertaking, coordinating, and supervising projects, environmental assessments, visitor and stakeholder liaison, and field-based activities including burn planning/wildfire management and law enforcement.

Required Skills and Qualifications

We are looking for someone with expertise in natural land management strategies, strong communication skills, and the ability to think on their feet. You will excel in a collaborative environment where teamwork and supporting the growth of others are prioritized.

Essential Requirements

  • A degree or equivalent relevant to environmental operations is required
  • A current Australian Class C Drivers license or equivalent and ability to operate four-wheel-drive vehicles is essential
  • Ability to obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties is mandatory
  • Willingsness to fly in light aircraft and preparedness and ability to be involved in incident management duties including firefighting is required
