Design and operational excellence are critical components of ensuring the delivery, operation, and scalability of all global data center infrastructure.

Job Role

We are seeking a skilled Data Center Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing full life-cycle support to data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with vendors to review and validate the design for new data centers in your region, including input, submittal review, and incorporation of products to ensure the design meets expectations.
  • Acting as a resident engineer during new data center construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and handover.
  • Troubleshooting, conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and creating Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failure.
  • Providing technical support to the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency.
  • Supporting operational partners to lead, review, and approve designs for existing co-location (colo) data center upgrades that improve availability/efficiency.
  • Interfacing with operational partners, data center design engineering teams, server hardware teams, and environmental health and safety teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered by operational partners.
  • Working on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions, and initiating and leading engineering site audits within leased or colo data centers.

A typical day for a Data Center Engineer at our organization includes interacting with different teams responsible for all aspects of the data centers, prioritizing activities to support data center capacity, availability, and safety, and having the opportunity to work on projects locally and globally.
