About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Advisor to join our team at the Public Transport Authority (PTA) of Western Australia. As a key member of our Project Delivery Division, you will play a critical role in maintaining compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and standards.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and coordinating our Compliance and Assurance Program, ensuring alignment with AS/NZS ISO 45001 and AS/NZS ISO 9001 standards.
  • Providing expert advice on WHS and rail safety matters to our workforce and contractors, conducting site inspections, safety audits, and monitoring contractor compliance with safety requirements.
  • Developing and reviewing safety policies and procedures, investigating incidents, and contributing to the continual improvement of safety management practices within the PTA.

About You

To excel in this role, you should possess:

  • Completion or progression towards a Tertiary or equivalent qualification in a relevant field or extensive rail-related experience.
  • Understanding and practical application of the safety principles to meet the requirements of the WHS Act 2020, WHS Regulations 2022, and Rail Safety National Law Act WA 2015.
  • Considerable practical application and understanding of the safety principles to meet the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 45001 and AS/NZS ISO 9001.
  • Understanding and practical application of safety assurance, quality assurance principles, and risk management principles.
  • Relevant experience in the internal auditing of quality and safety management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in statistical data analysis, reporting, and providing recommendations to management.

This is a fixed-term appointment for 5 years with possibility of extension and/or permanency available for an immediate start. Initially, this selection process will be used to fill the above vacancies, however, it may also be used to appoint to similar positions that arise within the next 12 months.

To be eligible to work at the PTA, you must be either an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident or hold a valid work visa until 31 December 2029.
