About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Safety Advisor to support the Public Transport Authority's (PTA) Project Delivery Division (PPD) in maintaining compliance with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements and standards.
As a Safety Advisor, you will play a key role in the development and coordination of PPD's Compliance and Assurance Program, ensuring alignment with AS/NZS ISO 45001 and AS/NZS ISO 9001 standards.
You will provide expert advice on WHS and rail safety matters to both the PTA workforce and its contractors, conducting site inspections, safety audits, and monitoring contractor compliance with safety requirements.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the improvement of health and safety of our contractors by attending sites, prestart and shutdowns to maintain contractor engagement.
- Reviewing safety management plans and safety documents, conducting worksite inspections and audits to ensure compliance.
- Coordinating investigations, and identifying opportunities for continual improvement in safety practices.
- Participating in risk assessments, developing risk treatment plans, and supporting the ongoing review of the PTA's Risk Management Policy.
About You
To excel in this role, you should possess:
- Completion or progression towards a Tertiary or equivalent qualification in a relevant field or extensive rail related experience.
- Understanding and practical application of the safety principles to meet the requirements of the WHS Act 2020, WHS Regulations 2022, and Rail Safety National Law Act WA 2015.
- Considerable practical application and understanding of the safety principles to meet the requirements of AS/NZS ISO 450001 and AS/NZS ISO 9001.
- Understanding & practical application of safety assurance, quality assurance principles and risk management principles.
- Relevant experience in the internal auditing of quality and safety management systems.
- Demonstrated experience in statistical data analysis, reporting and in providing recommendations to the management.
