About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Taikurtirna Warri-apinthi Practitioner. This role is a critical part of our Aboriginal Practice Team, working closely with Aboriginal children and young people to establish meaningful relationships and provide support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish Strong Relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with Aboriginal children and young people, their families, and communities.
  • Develop Support Plans: Create and implement individualized support plans to meet the unique needs of each child or young person.
  • Culturally Sensitive Practice: Provide culturally sensitive and relevant information to support the prevention and intervention plans for Aboriginal children and young people.
  • Family Support Network: Establish and maintain a lifetime family support network for Aboriginal children and young people, ensuring their safety and well-being.
About You

We are looking for a confident and empathetic individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to establish strong relationships with Aboriginal people. You will have a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of children and young people's development stages, vulnerability, and resilience.

About the Business

The Department for Child Protection plays a critical role in protecting children, young people, and their families in South Australia. Our department provides support to vulnerable children and young people to ensure their safety, strength, and connection to their families and communities.

Essential Qualifications

A degree-level qualification in Social Work, which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers, is essential for this role. However, we encourage applications from individuals with the appropriate background and skills, who may not have the essential qualification.

Special Conditions

Candidates must demonstrate increased professional expertise, competence, and experience to perform any standard professional task within the discipline. They must also have attained greater specialized knowledge within the discipline, enabling them to provide professional services to client groups in circumstances requiring increasingly complex practice skills.
