We are a leading infrastructure and construction company seeking an experienced Senior Sustainability Advisor to join our team. Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, the successful candidate will have a strong understanding of and be passionate about sustainability principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide leadership and guidance on site sustainability management
- Implement and monitor sustainability strategies, including the sustainability management plan
- Provide expert advice to project teams on sustainability requirements and targets
- Coordinate and provide specialist sustainability management support to internal and project stakeholders
- Provide operational sustainability guidance and support to business leaders to drive a culture of best practice
- Identify and manage sustainability risks
- Manage the delivery of sustainability rating aspects and compile documentation for external rating bodies
- Liaise with government bodies and professional organizations on sustainability matters
- Establish, monitor, and report on key sustainability performance objectives and standards for managing project risks
- Support the development of the sustainability team in leading practices and driving sustainability improvement
- Develop and implement site-specific sustainability documents, processes, and regulatory compliance applications
- Consult with other teams to identify opportunities for efficiencies and streamlining of sustainability processes and outcomes
- Investigate and determine key innovations applicable to the project and oversee their implementation and approval
- Monitor system and process audits to ensure compliance with sustainability standards and requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, Science, Engineering, or other associated disciplines
- 5+ years' experience in the Sustainability field, with experience in the construction industry desirable but not essential
- Strong understanding of sustainability principles and application within the construction industry, including sustainability rating schemes such as Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) Green Star, NABERS, and WELL
- Understanding of sustainability management techniques, National Construction Code compliance, project approval processes, and requirements
- Understanding of federal, state, and local sustainability statutes and legislation
- Passion and drive for driving sustainability in the construction industry
