About the Role

We are seeking self-motivated, empathetic professionals to join our Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service in Townsville. The service supports young people aged 16–21 in a safe, home-like setting, helping them build life skills, resilience, social connections, and confidence to live independently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support young people to return to their community, live independently and enjoy a meaningful life through a staged approach to recovery.
  • Purposefully engage with young people using techniques including brief intervention, motivational interviewing, family inclusive practice, trauma informed practice, conflict resolution.
  • Plan and deliver group programs that aid young people to build their skills and focus on recovery.
  • Support family and carer roles through understanding their concerns and the provision of information, education, and referrals.
  • Collaborate with a range of services and the community to ensure a co-ordinated, integrated response to people's recovery goals.
  • Contribute to the day-to-day operations of the residential service through undertaking a range of housekeeping duties.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Tertiary qualifications (minimum Certificate IV) in a relevant field such as Youth Work, Mental Health, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or other health-related field.
  • Expertise in working with young people with mental health issues, complex needs, and interacting with families and carers.
  • Proven capability to implement therapeutic, recovery-oriented frameworks and practices including risk mitigation, trauma-informed care, and family-inclusive practice.
  • Hold a current First Aid and CPR certificate and perform these duties as required as part of the role.
  • Ability to provide proof of vaccination against vaccine-preventable diseases or willingness to obtain required vaccinations per Queensland Health partnership.
