About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator to join our teams at our depots in Darwin/East Arm and Alice Springs. As a key member of our freight division, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading and unloading of vehicles and containers. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring optimal operation of our broader business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Conduct pre-start checks on forklifts and other equipment to ensure they are in good working order.
  2. Operate forklifts and other machinery safely and in accordance with policies and procedures.
  3. Accurately scan, match, sort, and place freight in designated locations.
  4. Implement Checked, Weighed, and Cubed (CWC) procedures to minimize revenue leakage.
  5. Ensure all freight is accounted for with accompanying paperwork.
  6. Unload and load freight safely with zero damage within set time limits.
  7. Maximize load revenue through effective blending.
  8. Comply with legislative requirements regarding load mass and Chain of Responsibility.
  9. Review consignment notes and provide feedback to supervisors on quality and issues.
  10. Match freight and consignment notes with precision.
  11. Ensure all inbound units are cleaned and pallets, load restraint equipment, and dunnage are recorded and stored properly.
  12. Report incidents of damage, shortages, and split consignments to supervisors in a timely manner.
  13. Record dunnage and allocate load restraint equipment correctly.
  14. Maintain a tidy and organized yard.
  15. Work towards a target of zero near-miss incidents or accidents.
  16. Build and maintain professional relationships with all levels of the organization.
  17. Contribute to shared goals and work effectively as part of a team.
  18. Review processes and procedures to recommend and implement improvement initiatives.
Requirements
  1. Genuine commitment to Health, Safety, and Environment practices.
  2. Integrity, trustworthiness, professionalism, and a customer-centric approach to problem-solving.
  3. Current and valid Class LF Forklift Licence (High Risk Work Licence).
  4. Experience operating a forklift in a similar environment and/or industry.
  5. Solid experience loading and unloading freight that is oversized, ugly, long lengths, general, and non-palletized.
  6. Suitable physical ability to handle repetitive lifting of freight up to 20kgs.
  7. Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  8. Previous experience working towards targets and deadlines.
  9. Good time management skills coupled with resilience and adaptability.
  10. Proven ability to visualize and plan the load.
  11. Ability to work autonomously and unsupervised with a proactive attitude.
  12. Good language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  13. Active participation in team meetings, safety meetings, and training programs as required.
What We Offer

An effective salary of between $60,001 - $80,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience, is on offer. Remuneration will reflect current market conditions and industry award rates.
