Job Description:

The Family Support Specialist will work with families to empower and build their agency to make effective change. The role is heavily outreach based, engaging families in their homes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build parenting capability, skills and knowledge that promote flourishing child rearing.
  • Facilitate embedding structured family routines that improve household management, healthy eating and quality family time.
  • Improve parental management of stress and personal wellbeing.
  • Ensure all children meet developmental milestones by facilitating family access to medical services.
  • Improve financial health of families by achieving meaningful employment and/or training.
  • Improve school attendance and educational engagement of parents.
  • Enrolment in Kindergarten and family participation in early years playgroups.
  • Secure family safety.
  • Improve stable housing and family ability to maintain a tenancy.
  • Reduce substance misuse.
  • Improve family health by coordinating annual preventative health assessments.
  • Improve family dental care by coordinating annual preventative dental check-ups.

Requirements:

  • Current Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Social Science, Health, Allied Health, Youth Work, Community Services, Family Intervention or Criminology.
  • OR Current Diploma in Community Services, Social Work, Human Services, Child and Family, Allied Health, Youth Work, Child and Family Intervention.
  • AND At least 3 years of relevant experience in case management role.
  • Demonstrated ability to build client agency, self-efficacy and facilitate change through client empowerment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide behaviour change interventions.
  • Experience with case management for high risk and/or crisis clients.
