Research Assistant Position
The role of a Research Assistant plays a vital part in managing research projects within the clinical setting. This includes recruiting participants, collecting data, handling biological specimens, maintaining records, and ensuring compliance with human research ethics standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting in the conduct of clinical research projects according to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) standards.
- Developing project documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Recruiting participants for research projects in hospital clinics and non-clinical settings.
- Managing databases and entering data into various platforms.
- Maintaining accurate record-keeping and documentation for all research project matters.
- Assisting with laboratory activities as required.
- Ensuring adherence to laboratory SOPs and scientific protocols.
- Adhering to infection control policies and procedures when dealing with research participants and handling biological specimens.
- Making independent decisions on routine issues and seeking assistance from senior researchers when necessary.
- Maintaining technical/scientific expertise and expanding knowledge.
- Communicating results to stakeholders through abstracts, publications, and presentations.
Required qualifications and skills include:
- Bachelor's degree in biological/medical sciences, nursing, or allied health.
- Experience interacting with clinical research participants.
- Experience working with research records/databases.
Desirable skills and attributes include:
- Experience collecting, handling, and/or processing human biospecimens.
- Experience with hospital/HREA systems.
A successful candidate will possess:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and take instruction when required.
