Safety Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Specialist to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term basis with the potential for extension. As a key member of our Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the overall safety performance of the CFC and associated Spoke network.
Key Responsibilities- Create and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective risk management and compliance.
- Work closely with CFC operations teams and key stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
- Develop and implement safety frameworks and controls to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Represent the business to state regulators and industry bodies, providing technical expertise and guidance on safety matters.
- Provide clear and accurate reporting insights and frameworks to leadership teams, ensuring effective decision-making.
- Evaluate business risk reduction plans to ensure effectiveness in managing risk and identify areas for improvement.
- Demonstrate due diligence in meeting legislative responsibilities related to the safe storage, handling, and distribution of products.
- Implement and lead safety and wellbeing initiatives from the National Safety Plan, ensuring a culture of safety and wellbeing within the CFC and Spoke network.
- Support the development, deployment, and embedding of the CFC and Spokes future Safety direction and tactical initiatives.
We are looking for a Subject Matter Expert with a strong background in health and safety, critical risk reduction, traffic management, and transport safety. You will have a proven track record of achieving results and leading change within a fast-paced dynamic environment.
Key skills and experience include:
- Sound knowledge, skill, and experience in health and safety, critical risk reduction, traffic management, and transport safety.
- Minimum 3 years working in an operational FMCG distribution centre, manufacturing, or automated environment.
- Proven record of achieving results and leading change within a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Clear demonstration of ability to incorporate safety requirements while considering commercially viable and practical solutions.
- Proven record of providing technical expertise and coaching at all levels.
- Minimum qualification – Cert IV in Health and Safety or related discipline.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship building capabilities with internal and external parties.
- Effective communication and influencing skills, with strong attention to detail.
- Competency in the safety reporting and evaluating compliance, to then transform insights into frontline safety initiatives to address risk.
