Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a driven and experienced Professional to lead our team on the Venetia Underground Project in South Africa.

The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving project objectives and targets, ensuring the successful execution of the project scope. This includes conducting project planning, managing and resourcing the project, ensuring compliance with health, safety, training, environmental and quality systems, contract administration, cost control systems management, commercial interests management, tracking project deliverables and providing overall leadership and direction to the project team.

About the Role:

  • Lead the project to achieve project objectives and targets, ensuring the successful completion of the project
  • Pro-actively lead the project team in understanding and compliance of the Project Integrated Management Plan system
  • Lead the project team clearly and professionally, ensuring that each individual team member understands their daily, weekly and monthly tasks
  • Plan, coordinate, carry out and review all Project activity to achieve Client's desired project outcomes
  • Manage project budget and administer cost control systems
  • Constantly monitor and report on progress of the project to all stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Mining) or related field
  • Underground time required is completed, to enable the obtaining of a First Class Mine Managers certificate of Competency or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years' underground mining experience
  • Minimum 5 Years' experience managing Underground Projects
  • In-depth and extensive knowledge and application of contemporary underground mining practices to maximise safety and productivity
  • Sound commercial skills and experience in managing budgets, costs and resource management
  • Proven people management and leadership skills in a large project environment
