Job Description:

The role of the Build Engineer, Structures is to design and develop innovative solutions for flight and manufacturing hardware. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the development of flight hardware and build processes for Starship.

Key responsibilities include working closely with vehicle analysts and designers to ensure solutions meet vehicle design requirements and manufacturing processes. You will also develop production procedures and manage the transition of parts and assemblies from development to high-rate production.

Additional responsibilities include coordinating and executing development, qualification, and acceptance testing of systems and tooling needed to meet hardware deadlines. You will also execute design for manufacturability changes to enhance production efficiency and lead the on-site design engineering contact for the efficient build of parts and assemblies.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • 1+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing or production (internship and school projects experience qualify)
  • Master's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, materials or industrial engineering
  • Involvement in a professional engineering society or collegiate design project
  • Experience with the build, assembly, or integration of large mechanical assemblies

Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings, and climbing hand over hand
  • Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain
  • Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
