Mental Health Clinician Position

Latrobe Regional Hospital seeks an experienced Mental Health Clinician to join the Psychiatric Emergency Care team in the Emergency Department and Mental Health Telephone Triage.

The successful applicant will play a key role in undertaking various mental health clinical duties, including providing high-standard acute clinical assessment, evidence-based treatment and support to consumers experiencing significant mental health difficulties and their carers/families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct timely assessments as determined by risk, urgency, distress, dysfunction, and disability utilizing CMI documents.
  • Provide recovery-oriented practice using the Optimal Health Program.
  • Complete safety plans in collaboration with consumer's carers, significant others, and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Utilize current evidence-based interventions and collaborate with community organizations to meet identified needs.
  • Monitor consumers' physical/medical state and associated treatments in conjunction with their mental state and treatments.
  • Provide pharmacological/psycho-education specific to the consumer's requirements.
  • Deliver clinical work and brief interventions to individuals and carers/families.
  • Facilitate information exchange to the consumers' General Practitioner and other services related to the consumer's needs.
  • Adhere to responsible rostering and leave management practices.
  • Document treatment and support comprehensively, factually, and sequentially.
  • Participate in clinical supervision.
  • Work according to Latrobe Regional Hospital values, policy, and procedures, all relevant legislation, and DHHS directions.
