
Dental Care Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Oral Health Therapist to deliver high-quality dental care with a patient-centred approach. This role involves providing safe and effective preventive services, oral health education, and outreach initiatives.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with a Clinical Lead Dental to ensure complex cases are managed effectively and patients are referred appropriately.
Key Responsibilities- Perform accurate diagnosis and treatment planning within established guidelines.
- Operate under Smile Squad and Flying Doctor Dental Clinic protocols and care pathways.
- Refer patients to specialist or private services as needed in consultation with the Clinical Lead Dental.
- Address client needs, enquiries, and complaints appropriately.
- Identify and manage high-risk patients effectively.
- Ensure sterilisation and disinfection of instruments and equipment in line with Infection Control Guidelines.
- Maintain the highest standard of patient care in accordance with policy and available resources.
- Maintain and process dental records following standards and guidelines; keep casework and health promotion records updated.
- Provide health education and promote oral hygiene during consultations.
- Bachelor of Oral Health or equivalent degree with Extended Scope of Clinical Practice allowing restorative treatment of adults.
- Registration with AHPRA with no conditions or undertakings; ongoing commitment to professional development.
- Minimum five years of hands-on clinical experience in Oral Health Therapy.
- Experience in a range of dental practices and procedures, including public dental services/programs.
- Clinical competence to provide a comprehensive range of general dental treatments.
- Experience in planning and implementing health promotion programs.
- Understanding of Infection Control guidelines and best practices.
- Radiation Licence.
- Professional Indemnity insurance; Current CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to explain complex concepts simply, deliver engaging presentations, and create clear documentation.
- Collaborative approach working across teams and contributing to organisational goals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and dental software (e.g., Titanium, Unity, Legacy); adaptable to new technologies.
