Job Description:

The Central Specimen Reception Supervisor plays a pivotal role in the day-to-day operation of our laboratory's Central Specimen Reception service. This individual is responsible for overseeing all aspects of specimen reception and pre-analytical specimen processing, as well as managing staff, purchasing consumables, providing client support, and performing other duties associated with operating the CSR service.

This role requires a strong focus on teamwork, respectful behavior, and high attendance and punctuality standards. The ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills to develop and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model and promote positive teamwork, respectful behavior, and above-average attendance and punctuality.
  • Develop and maintain excellent colleague and client relationships through well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Support, adapt, and successfully train Central Specimen Reception staff.
  • Demonstrate thorough working knowledge and competence in diagnostic pathology pre-analytical specimen processing.
  • Supervise and coordinate a Central Specimen Reception service with a commitment to personal and organisational excellence.
  • Effectively use corporate software systems such as a Laboratory Information System (e.g., Auslab), an electronic medical record system, a purchasing system (e.g., S/4HANA), a payroll system, a Quality Information System, Outlook, Microsoft Office, etc.
Requirements:
  • Relevant qualification such as Certificate III or IV in laboratory skills or equivalent would be well regarded.
  • Vaccination against COVID-19 as per Queensland Health Human Resources Policy B70.
  • Vaccination against one or more of the following vaccine-preventable diseases during employment: measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), varicella (chicken pox), pertussis (whooping cough), hepatitis B, tuberculosis.
