About the Role

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Manager to join our SSE Thermal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Developing and executing procurement strategies to ensure value for money and project success.
• Compiling, negotiating, and awarding contracts with suppliers.
• Managing supplier relationships and working closely with stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Providing commercial support throughout the contract lifecycle, from estimating and sourcing to contract administration and dispute resolution.
• Leading and participating in sourcing events, covering all commercial, business, and legal risks.
• Ensuring compliance with all internal policies and driving improvements in procurement and commercial processes.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, you will need:

• A relevant degree or equivalent direct entry to a recognized professional body, with a solid understanding of contract structures, procurement strategy, and financial management.
• Experience in drafting and managing commercial contracts, ideally in engineering or construction, with working knowledge of relevant conditions of contract.
• Strong numeracy skills with experience interpreting and analyzing financial data.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and produce high-quality communications.
• An understanding of the supply chain and the confidence to challenge, influence, and drive positive change.
