
Youth and Family Leadership Position

This is a pivotal leadership position that demands strong management skills, cultural awareness, and a commitment to supporting Aboriginal families and children.
Job Responsibilities:- Lead and direct the work of Youth and Family Support Workers in case management activities.
- Maintain high professional standards and advocate for the best interests of each individual child and young person within their family and community context.
- Provide culturally sensitive supervision, oversight of caseloads, professional development, team building, monitoring, compliance auditing, reporting, data collection, program enhancement, and contribution to ongoing quality improvement.
- Evaluate and manage risks within the program, ensuring all children and young people have up-to-date safety plans aligned with best practices.
- A strong alignment with our organisation's values and purpose.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with professionals, stakeholders, and the community, upholding principles of Gamadji Balit including cultural identity, family participation, connection to country, mutual respect, and collective responsibility.
- Knowledge and appreciation of Aboriginal cultures, understanding issues affecting Aboriginal people, and diversity within Aboriginal communities, including staff.
- Experience working with Aboriginal families and children.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in a respectful and clear manner with staff, partners, and clients, including case notes, emails, and reports.
- Leadership experience in child and family services, providing support, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Familiarity with child and family welfare policies, legislation, and practices, particularly regarding children in Residential Care.
- High-level organisational skills, including time management, planning, and teamwork.
- Flexibility to work varied hours as needed.
- Leadership experience in Case Management, preferably with young people in Out of Home Care.
- A relevant qualification in Social Work, Welfare, or related field is required for this role, or equivalent experience. Additional training may be necessary to meet the qualification requirements for Residential Care.
