We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Therapeutic Youth Worker to join our care team in Gladstone. As a valued member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing tailored therapeutic interventions to children and young people in out-of-home care.
Key Responsibilities- Provide daily care and support to children and young people, including personal hygiene, health and well-being, medical, transportation, recreational and educational support needs.
- Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and personalized care environment for all children and young people.
- Document events and developments related to the day-to-day provision of care on the child or young person's journey with us.
- Ensure children and young people's NDIS plans are accessible while in our care.
- Utilize trauma-informed practices and supports in day-to-day care provision.
- Provide positive behavior support, therapeutic interventions, and safety to children and young people who may experience events of escalation and crisis.
- Encourage and facilitate opportunities for social engagement, recreation, and community involvement.
- Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement individualized support plans.
- Advocate for the rights and needs of the children and young people.
- Support young people in developing essential life skills, including education, vocational training, and independent living skills.
- Promote and support positive relationships and connections for children and young people with family, culture, and community.
We are looking for care team members who have a demonstrated passion for helping children and young people heal and grow through understanding and helping them lead fulfilling lives while promoting their independence. You will understand the importance of trauma-informed care and adapting responses and utilizing a broad range of support strategies.
You will have availability to suit a rotating roster that includes mornings, afternoons, weekends, and overnights. Essential requirements include a current paid working with children check, national police check, valid driver's license, current first aid, and a suitable minimum qualification.
