Job Summary

Quarry Operations Manager

This is a pivotal role that oversees the day-to-day activities of quarry operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and optimizing production to meet customer expectations.

The Quarry Operations Manager plays a key part in driving business performance through effective leadership and management of the quarry team, sales, logistics, and technical teams. This includes implementing strategic initiatives to enhance customer value, improve operational efficiency, and maintain product quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage quarry operations costs in line with budget targets
  • Develop and implement work health and safety strategies to ensure adherence to WHS regulations and requirements
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction to the quarry operations team and employees
  • Collaborate with sales, logistics, and technical teams to enhance customer value and business performance
  • Manage workforce capability through recruitment, training, and discipline, ensuring compliance with relevant awards, enterprise agreements, and contracts
  • Ensure quarry team operations comply with relevant legislations
  • Maintain product quality in alignment with specified standards and customer expectations
  • Oversee plant capacities, outputs, availability, and replacement plans

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in the concrete and aggregate industry with a sound understanding of quarry management
  • Certificate 4 (minimum) in Surface Extractive Industries
  • Experience with sales/customer service responsibilities (preferred)
  • Ability to work independently within an established structure
  • Solid financial management skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
