Job Opportunity: Mechanical Fitter Supervisor

We are seeking an experienced and skilled mechanical tradesperson to take on a challenging role. The position involves a mix of hands-on mechanical work and overseeing the maintenance of plant equipment and machinery in a small, established foundry.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment and machinery is inspected, maintained in a safe, timely and efficient manner, while adhering to company values. This includes planning daily projects and maintenance schedules, responding to breakdowns, and prioritizing records keeping of maintenance repairs and inspections.

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will use hand tools and power tools for all handheld operations, operate fixed and movable load shifting equipment, and contribute to process improvements. You will work closely with the in-house production team and external contractors to ensure smooth operations.

Your Responsibilities
  • Inspect and maintain plant equipment and machinery in a safe, timely and efficient manner.
  • Plan daily projects and maintenance schedules.
  • Respond to breakdowns in order of priority.
  • Prioritize records keeping of maintenance repairs and inspections.
  • Communicate mechanical issues to plant users and managers.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with shopfloor employees.
  • Use hand tools and power tools for all handheld operations.
  • Operate fixed and movable load shifting equipment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter.
  • A motivated individual with a strong work ethic.
  • Possess an impeccable safety record.
  • Be keen to contribute to a progressive and dynamic organization.
  • Nationally recognized trade certificate.
  • Forklift Licence (desirable).
