Job Description

We are seeking a Safety and Risk Management Professional with experience in Civil and Rail to join our team on the Midland Junction Alliance project in Perth. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing health and safety leadership and support to project personnel.

About the Role
  • The role involves achieving project health and safety targets and building a strong health and safety culture.
  • The ideal candidate will be familiar with and provide advice on health and safety law and regulations applicable to works being undertaken.
  • They will ensure that project operations are carried out safely at all times.
  • The Safety and Risk Management Professional will support initiatives as implemented by the HSE Manager.
  • They will complete HSE investigations and develop reports on all incident investigations in line with client and MJA Alliance timeframes.
  • Reviewing site risk registers, identifying controls for each construction execution plan, and facilitating CRAWs as necessary are also key responsibilities.
  • The role requires providing ongoing HSE advice to Supervisors, Contractors, and site workers to eliminate or minimize hazards.
  • The ideal candidate will assist in reporting, investigating, and implementing corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of hazards, near miss incidents, and work-related illness/injury.
  • They will work towards achieving project HSE targets and building a strong HSE culture.
  • Identifying areas for improvement, reviewing, and ensuring compliance to Environmental Management procedures are essential duties.
  • Participating in project risk assessments and preparing risk control documents are also required.
  • Carrying out regular site safety and environmental inspections and/or audits as needed is another important responsibility.
  • Continuously reviewing on-site work practices, materials conditions, plant, and equipment to identify HSE hazards is essential.
About You
  • You must have proven experience working in the relevant rail industry, preferably with at least 3 years of experience in rail delivery.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in HSE is a must.
  • Experience within the Construction/Engineering sectors is highly regarded.
  • Strong and clear communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • You should be an advocate for a strong safety culture.
