As a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and performance of our products, while providing excellent customer service and support.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a highly competitive salary, with an estimated hourly rate of $60-$80 AUD, commensurate with experience. Additionally, you will be eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus (conditions apply), overtime penalties, superannuation, remote allowance, rent assistance, tool allowance, on-call penalties, and relocation assistance within Australia. Participation in an annual variable compensation program and salary continuance insurance are also available.

Job Description

As a Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering first-class service to our customers across predominantly automotive, mining, and power generation sectors in the Mount Isa region.
  • Working in our busy workshop, performing breakdown and preventative tasks, and ensuring our customers are back up and running safely and efficiently on an on-call roster.
  • Inspecting and replacing components as required.
  • Engine rebuilding and reconditioning.
  • Ensuring adherence to all relevant Health Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation, and reporting any issues/incidents to the Operations Manager.
  • Completing required documentation, such as service worksheets, timesheets, warranty claims, quality documents via handwritten forms or business system input screens.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Light/Heavy Diesel trade qualification.
  • Experience as a Mechanic in the service and maintenance of light/heavy diesel products, mining equipment, power generation on engines and similar applications, including engine overhauls and major repairs.
  • Knowledge and experience of working on Cummins products highly desirable.
