Bricklayer Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced bricklayer to join our team. As a bricklayer, you will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting building plans, erecting and dismantling scaffolding while ensuring safety compliance, laying bricks and creating structures using various materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Analyzing and interpreting building plans
  • Interpreting work orders and determining the materials required
  • Erecting and dismantling restricted height scaffolding
  • Creating and maintaining structures, walls, foundations etc using various types of blocks, tiles, boards, and stone
  • Laying bricks in rows, designs and shapes, and spreading mortar between joints
  • Embedding blocks in mortar and removing excess mortar
  • Strengthening and sealing foundations with the appropriate material, usually damp-resistant materials
  • Fastening bricks with wire clamps or cement
  • Repairing building blocks
  • Understanding and managing the quantities of material required for the job
  • Using tools such as hand tools, brick-cutting machines but also spirit levels and plumb lines to check building alignment
  • Working safely on scaffolds and swing stages at various heights
  • Using equipment and tools effectively to perform basic construction tasks
  • Ensuring compliance to agreed codes, legislation, and procedures including health and safety
Requirements:
  • Certificate III/IV in Bricklaying or equivalent
  • 1 year of relevant experience
