About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tailings Engineer to join our Mine Waste team in Melbourne, Victoria. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in tailings/mine waste related projects and a strong analytical and problem-solving skillset.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop defensible soil strength parameters using laboratory and field results
  • Undertake screening level and detailed design analyses to support the design of tailings storage facilities and other earth structures
  • Develop designs for tailings storage facilities and other earth structures
  • Manage project planning, preparation of technical deliverables, and coordination of client-contractor requests
  • Interpret results from laboratory testing and prepare summary reports
  • Undertake design assessments, including tailings beach modelling, and stability and seepage analyses
  • Travel to remote mine sites to complete site inspections, supervise geotechnical investigations, and oversee the construction of tailings storage facility designs
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
  • Master's degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering is preferable
  • EA Chartered Engineer or close to achieving
  • Previous experience working on tailings/mine waste related projects locally or internationally
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Enthusiasm for fieldwork and willingness to travel to remote sites periodically
  • Ability to work efficiently autonomously and in a team environment
  • Good attention to detail and time management ability
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
