About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tailings Engineer to join our Mine Waste team at WSP Global Inc. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative solutions for tailings storage facilities and other earth structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Developing defensible soil strength parameters using laboratory and field results.
  • Conducting screening level and detailed design analyses to support the design of tailings storage facilities and other earth structures.
  • Designing tailings storage facilities and other earth structures.
  • Managing design changes and specifications while on site.
  • Preparing technical deliverables, including proposals and reports.
  • Interpreting laboratory testing results and preparing summary reports.
  • Conducting design assessments, including tailings beach modeling and stability and seepage analyses.
  • Traveling to remote mine sites to complete site inspections and supervise geotechnical investigations.
  • Working with and supporting other team members, as well as mentoring junior staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • EA Chartered Engineer or close to achieving.
  • Previous experience working on tailings/mine waste related projects in a consulting environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Good attention to detail and time management ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
