**About the Position**
The Aboriginal Family Engagement Manager role plays a pivotal part in enhancing the court experience for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families. This involves supporting families, providing expert advice to coroners to ensure a culturally responsive approach to investigations, and partnering with others to drive positive change within communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the Aboriginal Engagement team to strengthen collaborative ways of working, guide professional development, and support the wellbeing of team members.
- Coordinating and delivering culturally safe, responsive, and needs-based bereavement support and information on the coronial process to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
- Developing, monitoring, and evaluating case management practices to ensure consistency, appropriate case allocation, compliance, responsiveness, and the identification of practice improvements.
- Promoting cultural competency across the Coroners Court through awareness and advice to create a workplace that embraces diversity and supports inclusion through mutual respect, shared understanding, and experiences.
- Fostering supportive and collaborative partnerships across a wide range of stakeholder groups.
About You
You will require:
- Specialist knowledge and understanding of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, both society and culture, and the issues impacting on it.
- A sound understanding of the principles of cultural safety and demonstrated ability to effect culturally safe practice.
- The ability to translate complex information to provide written reports and recommendations that are highly influential in decision making.
- The ability to effectively collaborate, partner, and support a wide range of stakeholder groups.
