Key Responsibilities- Provide Expert Legal Advice: Offer guidance on data commercialization initiatives, data protection strategies, and data-sharing agreements to ensure compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other regulations.
- Develop and Implement Data Protection Strategies: Collaborate with the organization to develop and implement data protection strategies aligned with our business goals.
- Draft and Negotiate Agreements: Draft, review, and negotiate data-sharing agreements, privacy policies, and other related documents.
- Advise on Data-Driven Products and Services: Provide legal advice on the development of new data-driven products and services, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Monitor Regulatory Changes: Stay up-to-date with changes in data protection laws and adjust our practices accordingly.
- Conduct Risk Assessments and Audits: Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify and mitigate privacy risks.
- Represent the Organization: Represent the organization in discussions with regulatory authorities and partners on data privacy issues.
- Partner with Business Areas: Collaborate with other business areas to provide holistic legal advice and support ongoing initiatives.
- Unrestricted Victorian Legal Practicing Certificate: Essential for this role.
- Tertiary Legal Qualification: A must-have for this position.
- Minimum 8 Years PQE: We are looking for candidates with a minimum of 8 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong Knowledge of Global Data Privacy Laws: You should have a strong understanding of global data privacy laws, including the Privacy & Data Protection Act 2014 (Victoria) and the Privacy Act 1988.
- Experience Drafting and Negotiating Complex Agreements: You should have experience drafting and negotiating complex data-sharing agreements.
- Strong Analytical and Communication Skills: You should possess strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to balance legal risks and business opportunities.
- Ability to Manage Multiple Projects: You should be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
